Nine Week Basic Handler School

What information will be covered?

The course will cover detailing, leash work, pattering, scent theory, tracking and control.

We will cover scent work and instruct new handlers on how to read their dogs indicators.

We will provide hands on approach to solving individual problems.

Attempts will be made to place teams into scenarios and situations that may test the handlers and canines abilities.

A complete understanding of all detection and patrol case law.

Search techniques, control, obedience, tactical obedience and tracking.

This class will end with a POST certification for basic narcotic and patrol.

 

The agency may select a K9 from our kennels and register the handler for this course. Once registered the agency will then be contacted and invoiced for the course. Canine Team Evaluator Course

This course is designed to train students to evaluate a team performance under POST K9 Guidelines.

This course consist of lecture and hands on evaluation of canine teams. Those wishing to participate in the course may also run their canine through the evaluation process for certification. Contact Ron Cloward if you will have your canine with you. Minimum Standards to become a POST Evaluator:

1. Should have a minimum of five years experience as a Law Enforcement K9 Handler or Law Enforcement K9 Trainer, and a minimum of 200 hours of documented training in the area they are evaluating.

(Attendees in the course must provide verification of prerequisites to the course presenter prior to the beginning of the course.)

Class size is limited, so register early! POST Plan IV CCN is 1449-24040-24.

The students will learn how to interpret and  apply  a reasonable and uniform evaluation of standards set forth in POST guidelines for patrol and detection.
The cost for this course is $119.00 or $124.00 for credit card payment.

Canine Tracking Course

The course will enhance you and your dog’s abilities and skills for successful tracking on any surface. We will focus on line control, reading K9 behavior, and a variety of surfaces. Tracking for suspects is your bread and butter.

The course is a mixture of classroom and hands on. We will also provide each student the information needed to qualify as an expert in tracking for courtroom purposes.

Ron Cloward will show you the proper techniques for efficient and successful tracking from basic to advanced. Our team of trainers will help each team to gain confidence as a team in tracking.
